Just curious but how do you know the motherboard is dead as opposed to BIOS corruption or defective RAM, CPU, GPU, etc.? How do you even know the screen works?

Regardless here is how to remove the screen but it is doublful you could use it as a monitor.

Why not just replace the motherboard? They are not very expensive.

I don't have a specific answer for you, but what you want to do is definitely possible. User @oldturkey03 has done exactly that with a Toshiba screen just by buying a LCD controller board that lets you use the screen as a monitor.

I'm not entirely sure how you go about locating the right controller board, but I see no reason why you couldn't do the same sort of thing with your laptop's display if you can find one.

Hi @dadibrokeit,

One way to match an LCD controller board to the panel is to search for the "(insert laptop's LCD panel make and model number) datasheet" so that you know the pinout i.e. wire functions of the wires in the LVDS connector in the panel.

Once they're known then you have to find a controller board that allows you to connect to the panel so that it matches wire for wire (or you can maybe put a breakout board in between and wire it so that it does match)

A lot are fairly standard even as to the voltage requirements but it pays to make sure.

Usually the LCD panel make and model is found on a sticker on the back of the panel itself.
