Why does the screen show scattered lines?
This is what it looks like when its on the normal screen, right after being switched on. What can I do to fix this?

Try taking out all the batteries (including the backup battery), hold [On] for 10 seconds then put the batteries back in.
If that doesn't fix it them your screen ribbon cable is failing. This is a common issue but unfortunately impossible to fix without soldering skills. You can find more information about potentially fixing it here.
