Unfortunately this is usually a sign that your hard disk is on the way out. I would prioritize backing up the data on this laptop as soon as possible, and then looking into replacing the hard disk with a newer solid state drive which should be less prone to failure in the future. Looking through HP's documentation for the laptop, it looks like this machine will work with a 2.5" SATA disk or M.2 disk.
