The Light on my LG Water Dispenser Stopped Working

I have an LG French Door Refrigerator model LRFWS2906S. The light that used to come on, when using the water dispenser, stopped working. All the control panel lights work. Pushing and holding the Light Button turns on the display lights, but not the water dispenser light. I do not see any way to change an led bulb. Any suggestions? Thanks!

@meld30599 - were you able to find a solution? I am having the same problem (LRMWS2906) and can't see anything online.

I asked chat gpt my original question just now and got the responses below. I haven't tried any of the suggestions yet..

"Got it — you're dealing with a common issue in newer LG French Door refrigerators like your model LRFWS2906S, where the water dispenser light stops working, even though the rest of the control panel and display lights are functional.

Here’s what you need to know and some steps to try:

🧠 Quick Diagnosis

Display lights working? ✅ (Yes)

Water dispenser light NOT working? ❌

Light button activates other lights, but not dispenser? ❌

No visible way to change a bulb? ✅

This strongly suggests the issue is either with:

A faulty LED module behind the dispenser (which may not be user-replaceable).

A wiring issue or bad connection from the control board to the light.

Or, in rare cases, a main control board or dispenser board failure related to the LED circuit..." cont in next post...

🔧 Try This First (Safe DIY Steps)

1. Power Reset (Soft Reboot)

Unplug the refrigerator for 5 minutes, then plug it back in.

This resets the control board.

Sometimes the LED light circuit glitches and this clears it.

2. Check Light Button Behavior Again

Press and hold the “Light” button for 3 seconds to toggle modes.

Try pressing it with the door closed and again while pressing the water lever.

3. Inspect for a Hidden LED

Look under the water dispenser spout area for a small clear plastic lens or circle—that’s the embedded LED. It’s usually not a bulb you can change manually.

If it’s dim or out, it’s likely the LED module itself has failed... cont in next post

🛠️ If That Doesn’t Work...

Since there’s no bulb to replace and no user-accessible LED:

Option 1: Call LG Support or a Repair Tech

The LED light is part of a sealed module or is integrated into the dispenser board—which may need replacement.

LG can sometimes guide you through a diagnostic over the phone.

Option 2: Check Warranty

Your model may still be under a limited parts warranty (especially for sealed system or LED lighting). Call LG or check at https://lg.com with your model and serial number.

Option 3: Service Manual (Advanced)

If you’re handy, you could find the service manual online (PDFs exist unofficially), which sometimes show how to remove the front panel and test the LED or replace the dispenser PCB.

🧊 TL;DR:

Try unplugging for 5 minutes and test again.

There’s no replaceable bulb — it’s an LED embedded module.

If the reset doesn’t help, it likely needs repair or replacement of the LED light board (or control board).

Check if it’s under warranty — you might get it fixed free or cheap.

@meld30599

The part number for the dispenser LED light is EAV64632103

How you get to replace it is another matter as I can't find anything on how to do this.
