Drum wobbling and making loud noise Hotpoint Washing Machine wmfug742

Hi

When the washing machine spins it makes a loud noise and the drum wobbles. It sometimes sounds like something is clunking .

It is on an even floor and balanced, up to about 4 days ago it was working fine.

I hope you can help as its a great washing machine.

Michelle

Hi @chell31077

Could be a loose or faulty shock absorber. (supplier example only)

They are attached inside the machine to stabilize the tub when it is agitating and spinning. Here's a video that shows how to replace them that may help.

If the rods are faulty search online for Hotpoint wmfug742 shock absorber to find suppliers that suit you best.

@chell31077

It will only get worse and if the wobbling gets bad enough may end up causing damage to the machine.

In the end it may cost more to fix, if this happens, than just replacing the shock absorbers now (if they are the problem of course)
