Normally I'd suggest that the screen was damaged and needs to be replaced, but you can't usually get it to come on by squeezing it. That may still be the case, but it would be worth your while to check the display connector where it plugs into the motherboard. Here's what you're looking for.
This is on Step 36 of the Screen Replacement guide for your phone. Note that if you just want to check the display connector, there's a lot of parts removal stuff you'll want to skip since they have nothing to do with just reseating that plug.

I don't have a high degree of confidence that's going to fix it because the connector is pretty much locked down with a metal plate and four screws, but definitely worth checking. If the cable is loose anywhere else then you're just going to have to bite the bullet and replace the screen since nothing else is replaceable.
