I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 2nd gen can i upgarde this to a 1 tb ssd if i wanted to.

Short answer is yes.

Here's the hardware maintenance manual for the tablet.

Go to p.66 to view the procedure to remove/replace the M.2 PCIe NVMe 2280 SSD

Here's just one reputable¹ supplier that shows that they have a 2TB SSD that will work in the tablet. Obviously find suppliers that suit you best. Just ensure that it is a M.2 PCIe type and not a M.2 sata type SSD and also that its size (dimensions) is 2280 (22mm x 80mm)

¹ Most reputable suppliers also provide cloning software (via a download link) so that you can clone the old SSD to the new SSD for a seamless changeover i.e. it will work with the new SSD the same as it did with the old. Search online for how to clone laptop SSDs
