After announcing the discontinuation of the Durango after the 2009 model year, Dodge released an Internet site and teaser photos of the third-generation Dodge Durango on August 16, 2010.

Cam Sensor Location 2012 3.6l

My 2012 dodge Durango 3.6l threw a code for an intermittent cam sensor on bank 1 sensor 2. I'm having a hard time finding where that is located. Any help is appreciated.

So I am kind of confused. The code states bank 1 sensor 2 which implies more than 1 sensor per bank. Is this the case or is there only 1 sensor on the bank. Thank you so much for your help. I'm trying to do this this weekend.

Hi @timparrish

Here's an image taken from the 2011-2016 Dodge Durango service manual, 3.6L engine section, showing the location of both the left and right camshaft position sensors.

@timparrish

I can't see any others in the manual but here's a link to it, you may be able to find the others.

I agree there should be more than two as most engines have at least 4, but all the images showing the sensors are always the same two.

BTW persevere with the link, It can be temperamental sometimes so you have to refresh the page (perhaps a few times) to get it to open, but it does work. There is a security check you have to click to load the document, if that doesn't appear (give it a few seconds), refresh the page (F5 key for Windows, don't know Mac computers though)
