My Dustbuster does not keep longer than a minute after charging?
It charges but doesn’t stay operating for more than a minute? Could it be the charger connection?

I agree. The nicad battery in the dustbuster loses the ability to charge after a few years.
As the comment in this disassembly says, a replacenent battery may cost more than a new dustbuster.
