Watch not fully powering on.

I recently replaced the battery in my Original Apple Watch using an iFixit battery. I did so because it would do nothing but boot loop when on the charger and would instantly die when I took it off. After the battery replacement, it showed the green charging snake for a few seconds then turned off. I pressed the power button and an Apple logo showed up but disappeared after about 3 seconds. It did not try to turn back on and did not boot loop. It also behaved the same while not on the charger so I know that the battery holds a charge. I fully drained the battery and tried to charge it again. It showed the green charging snake again but after that went away it still dies trying to boot up. Someone plz help me :)

Hi Blake,

Unfortunately the only information I have for you is of no use. I have the same watch with the same symptoms but have not found a fix yet. The only possibility I see is using a special iBus connector that allows you to connect the watch to a computer and update the WatchOS just like you do for an iPhone, but I'm resisting buying one due to the $70-$80 cost that's frankly not worth it for an Apple watch this old; I can buy a functional one for half that off eBay.

Here's my own post on the subject that lists everything I've tried.

Displays Apple logo for a second then back to black. - Apple Watch - iFixit

I've subscribed to updates on your question in case you get anything useful where I didn't. Hope you have better luck than I did.

Thanks for replying, I was thinking about asking iFixit for another battery to see if that works. I thought that it could be a problem with something on the BMS(battery management system) board because it seems like the watch might not be getting enough power from the battery. If I somehow fix the problem I will be sure to let you know.

@theapplenerd1 I did end up getting another battery from iFixit and it helped; I was finally able to get the watch past the green snake of death and see it bring up the Apple logo, but that's all it will do. So the replacement made things better, but it's still not working.

I ordered another battery from a random supplier on eBay and I've installed it; it's charging now. I'll let you know what happens once it charges.

The new battery charged overnight but hasn't cured anything. Initially the watch wouldn't do anything with the battery, but once I put it on the charger, I eventually got the charging snake. After a couple of hours I could get the apple logo by doing a hard reset, but it wasn't coming up on a single press of the power button any more.

After charging overnight, same behavior; logo after hard reset, but no logo after single power button presses other than maybe once. That's different from the previous iFixit battery where I could fairly reliably get the logo with a press of the power button.

So the random battery didn't do the job and the watch still isn't working and I'm still stuck at basically the same place and out of ideas.
