Ribbon cable causing issue

Hi, so my Samsung tv’s auto timer turned the tv off and the tv would not come back on at all. I have taken off the back of the tv and checked the power, main and t-con boards and all appear to be ok however tv is stuck in a boot loop unless I remove the ribbon cable from the main board to t-con board then the boot loop doesn’t commence the tv turns on as normal. Now for the confusing part…when I disconnect the ribbon cable, let the tv start up and finally reconnect the ribbon cable the tv works perfectly however once turned off the boot loop starts again until the steps are repeated. I have seen “fixes” on YouTube etc for a similar issue which uses electrical tape to cover 1 or 2 receivers on the t-con board this usually isolates a spot of led’s and leaves a visual defect on the screen. This doesn’t seem Like the correct fix for my TV’s issue as the entire screen works flawlessly when I have removed the ribbon cable and inserted it again. Is there any known fix for this or a way to stop the t-con sending the signal to turn the tv off? Thanks.

@dillanmchendry Did you find the solution yet?, I have the same issue with my tv, if I reconnect the ribbon cable when the TV is looping the image and sound come back as normal, thanks

@dillanmchendry a Tape-Off "I have seen “fixes” on YouTube etc. for a similar issue which uses electrical tape to cover" will not work for this issue. With this" the tv turns on as normal" are you saying it works as normal or just that it does not loop. So, it turns on and stay on. All of this sounds like your Samsung is having trouble with the POST (power on self test) and that it is why it does the looping. Since you pretty much isolated the T-con board. Let's look at that. Post some really good pictures of your boards with the question.

Now, disconnect the T-con board from the Panel. Remove the ribbon cables that go to the LCD driver boards. Try and see what happens now.

We do need to know the exact model for your TV so we can do a bit more digging regarding schematics etc.

Hi,

I'm experiencing the EXACT same problem as you with my 70" (model UA70TU7000SXNZ). TV would just be stuck at boot loop, blinking the red light under it twice and restarting itself over and over.

I've opened it after watching a few youtube videos showing the tape trick, and decided to try it. After many tries with the tape (different widths covering the ribbon cable pins), maximum I could get was half of the screen with image and the other half not working.

Then it was when I bumped into this post and decided to give it a try. Disconnected the ribbon cable, plugged the power cable, waited for it to boot it up, opened Netflix with the shortcut in the remote, and after hearing the typical Netflix startup sound (tan-dam!), plugged the ribbon cable. And there it was! The TV was alive, fully functioning with literally ZERO issues on the screen. Image crisp clear, no areas of the TV fading, missing, or anything like that.

@oldturkey03 I ask you, what do you think I could try to revive this TV? What options should I consider? I thought about buying a new ribbon cable, but do you really think that this would solve the issue, as the TV works fine after the boot?

Thank you in advance!

@rodrigorod96332 something seems to shorten out on boot up. So it could be the cable, but it could also be the signal either from where originates right to where it is needed. Main-board to T-con board or Panel driver boards. It would not be a signal line since those stay on. Let me see if there is anything specific with your TV model.

There's no T-con board for this TV, will send some pictures on the edit of this post.

Hi, I'm also having a similar issue with a QE50Q60TAU being stuck in a reboot loop.

I can get the TV to power up and stay on, respond to remote input, etc. by removing the sfpcx495g-002 ribbon cable (the small flat ribbon cable which joins the 2x narrow PCBs along the bottom edge of the TV), however whilst the TV boots up and is 'functional' there is nothing displayed on the screen, although the backlight is working correctly.

I have tried powering on the TV with this ribbon cable unplugged but the moment I plug it in the TV goes into the reboot loop. I know it's a long shot but does anyone have a pinout of this ribbon cable connection?

I'm experiencing the same problem with my UN55MU6290FXZA my TV will turn off and on with no sound but there will be a light on the screen I mess with the ribbon cable the picture starts to work and then there's sound again but as soon as I clamp down my ribbon cable from the t-con board then the picture will go out but the sound will still work but eventually the sound will fade away how can I fix this problem? I thought about just buying a new t-con board and ribbon cable and see if that would work but I don't want to do that if there's a way you can fix it

@singhpanjab no, not really but we need to know more. your video does not tell us a whole lot. In your own words, what is going on with your TV? What does it do and what have you checked?
