We replaced the starter,battery,fresh fuel and seniold. When we try to start it trys but enough to kick over.
We replaced the battery cables and still wouldnt turn all the way over. My husband says that it does not spark. Do you have any other suggestions? Model number 309304x8 Murry 11hp briggs

First off, there was a recall on those mowers due to leaking gas tank. For that check check on here. Now lets assume this got fixed;-) You need at least three things for the mower to start. Fuel, air, and a spark. Check for gas, clogged filters and collapsed lines. Check your carburetor, make sure your float is working right and that your needle valve is clean. Check all the lines for leaks and proper connection. If you are sure you do not have spark, then disconnect the Shut Off Wire at the Control Bracket and then check for spark at the Plug. If there is still no spark at the Plug, disconnect the Shut Off Wire at the Coil and check for spark. If you should still not have a spark, it is possible that your coil/or the ignition module is Bad. You can check and see that the Coil/Ign Module to flywheel gap is .020in. If you get spark at the Plug anytime during these checks, then a Safety Switch or Wire May be the Problem. The engine will turn over with a bad safety switch but will not fire. There should also be a blade safety switch, that you do not want to forget to check as well as the seat safety switch. To really isolate what is going on, I would disconnect the safety switches, bridge the wires. That way, you should be left with just the ignition circuit. If you now get spark, you know that it is one of the safety switches. reconnect one at a time and see which one causes the failure. Replace the safety switch. DO NOT OPERATE THE EQUIPMENT WITHOUT THE SAFETY FEATURES. Check the electrical diagram and see if that will help you further along. Good Luck and let us know how it is going.

Thank You for all your help. I was finally able to get it started after all that checking, looks like it was the Magneto Coil. When I put it in it started right up like new agian. Thanks alot.

Which wires do u connect to by pass sensors and where? Got fire and got fuel but won't start
my mower starts but as soon as you let off brake it stalls,also when engaging blades it stalls.

Try replacing the battery terminal wires on both the ground and the positive of the battery (black and red wires) with new. Current is not always able to flow through old, deteriorated or frayed wiring. That is the only link in the chain so far that you have not replaced.
After that you may try cleaning your battery posts and terminals with a "post and terminal" cleaning tool.
Let us know if that works or if it is a different problem.

+ I've also seen stranded battery wire that the corrosion has migrated into the interior wire. It was weird cutting into the outer covering and finding corroded wire way into the covered wire

murry 30"riding mower, hit a rock with blade while running, engine died, now when l try to start it will do nothing, no click or sound at all? where would l start to look?

Evidently the silenoid is bad, my husbsnd wants to bypass it becsuse it will run when screw driver is placed across those screws. I realize this is not optimum but can it be bypassed

it is highly unsafe due to the amount of exposed metal but yes it is possiable
Ok so I got the 15hp tech riding lawn mower (Murry) I get on push clutch set brake , tried to start it turned over , but it now on 2nd try it tries but seems something is stopping it , I can spin main front pully and again tries even got more turn over but something is not letting it fully crank, its like it's locked

sounds like you would have a pressure build up which could indcate a stuck valve or loose rocker arm

I'm have the same problem right now cant get a full turn. I did the jump cables and still did it to apart carburetor cleaned it real good, nothing. Took out plug turned over and over again plug back in yeah you guessed it, how do I clean it without tearing it upart
I've had this problem in the past and it was due to the valve clearances being incorrect. 20 minutes work to fix. 3-5 thou IN, 5-7 thou EXH.

we'll need more information but what i would check first is does the battery have power if so make sure the blades are off if so make sure the brake is on and there is gas in the tank try that first
You probably sheared the flywheel key. Go to you tube and search how to change sheared fly wheel key. There are great videos to show how to fix this issue.
I have a older Murray lawn tractor 12.5 hp it has no fire unless I unplug kill wire on coil
Ones who have hit something and mower won't start mowers have a shear sheer pin in the motor to keep hitting things from ruining the engine replace sheer pin should start up

Hello. I just purchased a Husqvarna rz4621 when I turn the key to start it barely turns. Battery is good. Out jumped cables on it didn't help. Took spark plug out. Have plenty of spark. Turn key while plug is out and motor cranks over fine. Put spark plug back in and motor doesn't wanna turn again. Not sure what I'm missing?

Hello I have a 14.5 Briggs & Stratton motor Replaced the battery and the solenoid all it will do is Click motor does not turn over I spend the crank pulley by hand so it does not froze up wondering about the starter any ideas

Won’t start, it doesn’t turn over at all. I replaced the fuel tank and drove it around the yard and it ran good. I tried to crank it the next day and nothing. My Battery Tender charger and multimeter show the battery is good, over 12.5 volts. I replaced the stater solenoid, brake and seat safety switches and it just makes a slight kinda clang sound once and that’s it.

How did you fix it? My Murray 15.5 hp widebody riding mower did the same thing, had it running fine then started it up this past sunday and had nothing, not even tried to start or turn over. Brand new battery and fuel filter and fuel tank and spark plug. Ran like a charm before so I cut the seat safety switch as I have read thats an issue with them, still the same thing so I replaced the ignition switch, still nothing but noticed now its blowing fuses, even when I dont try to crank it over Ill put a new fuse in and it blows it immedietly. Didnt do that before until I cut the seat safety switch, tried keeping the wires apart and together doesnt make a difference. Im at a loss of how to get it to start and stop blowing fuses. Please help if you can.
