The Kindle 3 was the 3rd generation of Kindle produced by Amazon. It was sold as a WI-FI or 3G model with 4 GB of internal storage.

So I have a metal tab stuck in my kindle

My kindle 3rd gen came with a book cover that attached itself to the kindle through metal tabs. One of the tabs broke off clean inside the kindle and like it still functions fine but like its the kinda thing I tend to pick at. I've tried getting in there with tweezers, spudgers, anything small enough. Is there a known methodology to this or am I doomed to be slightly inconvenienced?

Try following this teardown until you get far enough to access the metal tab, then lift it away.

This plus a pair of tweezers got me to where I need to be. I popped off the cover and found it lodged into a spring at a bad angle, With a little bit o pokery I was to get it out by using tweezers as a really high tension spudger. Just raised the tab a little got it straight with the hole and pushed it out.

That being said I think if I put it in another case designed to use those slots that could happen again
