Why are these dark shadows appearing on the screen?

This happens with a replacement screen as well

Looks like pressure being applied to the top of the screen, does it still do it with the phone open? Also I'd check the screws holding the ear speaker assembly are in the right holes. A long screw in a short hole if you get my drift.

It doesn't have anything connected to the screen and the phone was open

@logicalbot so front camera not fitted? Is the metal plate fitted on the back? If not and that’s happening with two screens I’d say you either have dirt or damage in the screen connector or a bad backlight filter. Filters usually affect part of the screen but not in the way yours is doing. Sometimes diagnosing problems is a lot harder without physically seeing the device.

@strongbow No I haven't had anything fitted not even the metal emi plate on the back, it's just the screen with a home button fitted and the connecters are clean as well and it happens with the original screen as well. I keep the phone open so I don't think there's pressure from the inside.

@logicalbot sounds more like a board issue then. Possible filter as I said earlier. Probably need a place that deals with board level repair.
