This is the 8-inch version of the smaller Fire 7. It includes 1.5 GB of RAM, a faster processor, and an HD display. The Fire HD 8 was released on June 7th, 2017.

I want to connect my kindle fire HD 8 7th generation to my TV for streaming services. What cable do I need to connect to the HDMI port on the TV?

Hi Mary,

Unfortunately, your Fire is one generation too soon to be able to connect to your TV using a cable. The 8th Gen includes a mini-HDMI port that allows a direct connection to the TV, but yours lacks that port, and the USB-C port is not capable of streaming video.

As such, your only other option is to buy an Amazon Fire TV box or an Amazon Fire stick. With either of those devices you can stream to it wirelessly and view the output on your TV. I briefly spotted a note about being able to connect to a PS3 console as well, but not sure about that one. Here are the instructions for that.
