Hi Jayeff,

After checking the hot water valve to see of any obstruction since the noise came from that area, when I put back the water lines I accidentally switched the hot and cold lines, by doing so, the noise stop, but the water lines is in wrong order. Is the hot water valve faulty? Thanks again.

@btjc

It seems like it may have been but perhaps not any more if there is no longer any noise especially when selecting a hot wash.

It may depend what the wash cycle temperature setting you selected. Most washers will wash in hot water if selected but nearly all of them rinse in cold water only irrespective of the wash temp setting.

So by swapping the hoses if a hot wash was selected cold water would enter through the hot valve and hot water through the cold valve.

Correct the water lines connection to what it should be and check if the noise is still there when selecting a hot wash.

If not then what could have happened is perhaps you may have cleared the obstruction in the valve itself because the cold water supply may be at a higher pressure than the hot water supply and it could have flushed out any debris that may have been lodged in the valve itself.

Check that the filter screens in the water hose connectors (sometimes at faucet end, sometimes at machine end) are not damaged which may let any sediment and grit in the water supply to get into the machine and perhaps get lodged in the valve.

What is the make and model number of the washer?

Hi @btjc

Don't know the washer but looking at the mini manual (i.e. tech sheet) in Field Service Mode Test #8 it mentions testing the fabric softener dispenser by operating a valve.

Perhaps the valve is faulty - vibrating.

The only "valve" mentioned in the parts list is known as the hot water valve - part #WH23X29538 shown as part #140 Controls and dispenser diagram, so I'm not sure if this is it or not, but it looks more than just a single "hot water" valve as it seems as though there are 4 solenoid coils in the assembly.

This is confirmed by the wiring diagram in the mini-manual - see image below, showing the valves' connection to the control board

If one of the valves is the problem, search online using the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

Hello Jayeff,

I finally got it fixed, I think the problem caused by broken pieces of the plastic filter stucked in the Coldwater solenoid, I purchased and replace an entire new hot water valve system ($50) Bam! problem solved. Thank you for your time.
