Propper SSD replacement for power consumption

Hello,

I searched for an SSD replacement. However the lowest power M2.2230 I found (Kioxia BG5) was consuming 4W what seems quite a lot to me for a device having a 47Wh battery and shall last almost 16 hours. Also I noted that there are power related issues when replacing SSD with this model. So do I need to wait for Microsoft original spare parts or is there another propper SSD out there available?

BR

Ralph

I'm not entirely sure of the power consumption of this one but microcenter has an inland 1tb 2230 SSD, and I have used it for about a week in an i5 surface pro 9 with no issues. I did make a reddit post about the install if that helps. Inland 1TB SSD in Surface Pro 9 : Surface (reddit.com)

Hey,

its maybe help for you, the Official Microsoft rSSD parts with sizes, FRU, and CRU SKUs are available:

Surface Pro 9
rSSD 128 GB TGB-00001 =(FRU) TIC-00001 =(CRU)
rSSD 256 GB TGI-00001 TID-00001
rSSD 512 GB TH1-00001 TIF-00001
rSSD 1 TB TH8-00001 TIG-00001

Surface Pro 9 with 5G
rSSD 128 GB TIV-00001 TLI-00001
rSSD 256 GB TIW-00001 TM1-00001
rSSD 512 GB TIX-00001 TM6-00001

If you do not want to use the FRU/CRU parts, need to exchange the SSD inside in the Microsoft SSD cooling cap.

Microsoft ship the Surface Pro 9 devices with these ssd's, this different is the sticker and plus heat cup:
MZ9L4256HCJQ-00BMV-SAMSUNG 256GB
MZ9L4512HBLU-00BMV-SAMSUNG 512GB
MZ9L4128HCHQ-00BMV-SAMSUNG 128GB
MZ9L41T0HBLB-00BMV-SAMSUNG 1TB
HFM256GD3GX013N-SKhynix 255GB

Remember: need to check the consumption, any SSD controller + the SSD size is differentiating the W/h (a cheaper chip can consume 2-3x more., so kill the battery worktime) sum: do not use the uncheck Noname SSDs.
