Cannot tune in …. Only get static

I have red light “charging”. Have replaced batteries, and after 36 hours, still showing as “charging”. I am get nothing but static, cannot tune into the tv.

# Should there be a green light once batteries are fully charged

1. What can I do to get sound from tv.

I have had the unit for nearly 3 years and it has gone perfectly well until now. Have checked all plugs etc…all seems In order. Would appreciate your help. Thank you
