will using a Rheem heatpump without heatstrips hurt the unit?

My Rheem heatpump was installed without heatstrips. My question is will using the heatpump without heatstrips hurt the unit? I understand that below freezing the unit won't stay as warm but I am going to compensate with space heaters, I just don't want the unit to be damaged by not having heatstrips if they are necessary.

No. The unit will not be damaged by this. Just don't run the unit below I'd say 36°F. The heat strips are for when it's too cold for the heat pump to provide adequate heat.
