A more affordable, purely handheld version of the Nintendo Switch game console, with integrated Joy-Con controllers and a slightly smaller screen. Released September 20, 2019.

Not switching on after fall

My son's Switch Lite fell off his bed and now it won't switch on. There's no apparent physical damage and I can't see any obvious loose connections. It has plenty of battery.

Anyone got any suggestions for what it may be?

does it make any sounds when the buttons are pressed if it does it could be the screen, other than that there are various reasons that could cause it like cpu being damaged, but its nothing anyone can diagnose online

Thanks for replying.

No, no sounds. Fully dead. That is why I thought a loose connection.

Sounds like it could be just about anything, then. I was hoping that there may be a couple of likely candidates for the Switch Lites. I think I'll try a full tear-down and see if anything helps.

@davidartley do you have a multimeter ?

@davidartley in beep mode check the capacitors around the m92 chip to check for shorts, put the red probe on a ground like on top of the charge port and check the caps with the black probe, if any beep on both sides let me know

Excellent, thanks. I will try this at the weekend.

I don't think they're shorts. I'm sure there should be continuity through those components.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

since you only get 5v then its more than likely m92 thats the issue as it controls the 15v. remove it and check again

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@nige56 there is only meant to be continuity through the coil not shorted, as the caps above m92 are marked red aswell
