Black spot appearing on screen

I have found my old iPad 4th gen and see a black spot on the screen, does that mean the battery is swelling?

Hard to tell from the damage but looks like the LCD has damage too. Replacing both would probably cost more than the value of the iPad.

Yeah it's 100$ to replace both

I have to agree with Nigel, it looks to me like the outlines of the black spot are corresponding to some of the cracks in the digitizer, so I'd say it's a pretty safe bet both would have to be replaced.

Offhand I wouldn't be suspicious of the battery quite yet; of course you'll be able to tell when and if you take the screen off. ...Unless you're also having battery problems, of course.
