Hi
I would try and get some electrical tape and isolate the exposed copper on the coil (along the edges)and see if it works
As long as you isolate the exposed bits I can’t see it being too much of a issue as it would probably act the same as the way it was from the factory
If it heats up excessively I wouldn’t use it either as there could be something wrong with it internally
If it doesn’t work you will have to replace it
