Drain filter is empty, but dog hair and lint are building up in drum.

I have attempted to clean out the drain pump filter on the washer but it comes out pristine (like new) every time. However, I still get tons of dog hair and lint inside the drum when I wash. Was it set up properly? How do I check? Is there a different filter that I should be checking?
