The iMac Pro, is Apple’s most powerful iMac to date. It comes with either a 3.2 GHz 8 core, 3.0 GHz 10 core, 2.5 GHz 14 core or 2.3 GHz 18 core Xeon W processor. EMC 3144 / A1862 (ID iMacPro1,1)

Revert to Stand from VESA Mount

I am looking to sell my iMac Pro that was previously converted to VESA Mount. When I reattach the stand, I cannot get the hinge mechanism to "unlock" and go back to the original position inside the chassis.

Any suggestions on how to reengage the hinge so it can sit back inside the chassis? I feel like any attempts I make to pull or lift with the stand are going to break the assembly.

Thanks. I meant to log in and answer my own question. The only issue with using the tool to reengage the mechanism is that it needs to be bent at a 90 degree angle to catch it. Once I bent the plastic card I was able to get it to pop back in.

It's unbelievable that Apple doesn't include the instructions to disassemble the VESA mount in their 20 language manual.

I'm trying to do this right now. Can you go into a little more detail? Did you bend it so that the card went up into the mac, or down?

I haven't done the iMac Pro, but I've done quite a few standard iMac's that have the same stand design. There is a small latch that you need to disengage using the tool that came in the kit or a credit card. Review this Apple manual for the iMac Pro VESA Mount to see where you need to slide it in.
