Doesn’t charge if bracket is installed

So I’ve replaced the battery and it’s charging only if the bracket that covers battery, display and home button cable is removed.

If I install that bracket back it’s not charging at all.

It also showed strange behaviour when it would charge with bracket, but when not all screws are in place (doesn’t happen in all cases).

What can be a reason here?

Can I use my phone without that bracket at all?

Check that you are using the correct screws, a longer screw can cause a short and damage to underlying circuit boards I assume you've looked carefully for visible shorts or misrouted cables? I'll get back after I've researhed a bit.

This behaviour is really strange and I never really seen before

You can use the phone without the brackets but it isn’t recommended as if the device is dropped it can unplug and prevent the device from working properly

I would try cleaning the connectors on the device and the parts with isopropyl alcohol to see if it’s caused by dirt being in the way of making a proper contact

Hopefully this helps, if it doesn’t give me a shout
