Xbox power supply flickering green and orange.

Hi, my Xbox 360 isn't powering on and the power supply is flickering between green and orange. The console itself has the center green light lit on the power button and is clicking (No HDD installed and I presume its the fan attempting to spin up?) anyone have any clue what the issue could be?

@macintoshing the PSU has built-in safeguards to help prevent damage to either the console or to the power supply itself. It will turn off in cases of over current, over voltage and over heating. Whenever some situation like that occurs the light will turn from green to orange or to red. I suggest that you take a look at the possibility of it overheating. I second @oldturkey03. I have experienced this myself and found that due to excessive buildup of dirt and other particulates in the intake and exhaust of the power supply, the unit would regularly overheat mid gameplay. Upon clearing the vents, I was able to gain extended periods without the overheating however, I believe the power supply was ultimately damaged from many overheating events prior to my realization that cleaning was needed as it eventually died, and I had to purchase a new one.
