Replacing the control panel on a GE Profile Microwave PEM31SM4SS

I can't find how to remove the control panel from my GE Profile microwave (PEM31SM4SS). All the videos show that there should be a couple of screws to take out to get access to the panel but I've taken off the oven trim accessory, removed the microwave from the cabinet and there is not a screw in sight. I've tried shifting the control panel to the left, right, up, down and it won't budge. Can anyone tell me how to get access to the control panel so I can replace it? Thanks!!!!!

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue. Can't figure out how to remove the control panel. Some of my buttons stopped working.

Hi,

Probably this is off no help. but here's the parts diagram for the microwave that shows how it is assembled.

You may have problems getting a replacement control panel as searching online for the manufacturer's part number (WB07X11250) shows that is is either unavailable or out of stock with no option to order one.

What is the problem with the microwave oven?

There should be a "mini-manual” (GE p/n 31-40080), i.e. wiring diagram, hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

The LED no longer can be read. I got the replacement part and found the parts diagram but can't figure out where the screws are for to release the display control panel so I can replace it.

I have the same problem on model PEB9159…. You have to take the cover off the unit. There are four screws on the back and one on the right side. There is a screw on the top of the control panel that can only be accessed from inside the unit. Then there’s a whole bunch of wires to disconnect but the panel slides out pretty easily. I would take a picture of the wiring before you disconnect so you can remember how to reconnect. Also pay attention to how the door opener mechanism works before disassembling. It’s a little tricky. Hope this helps.
