Apple's March 2019 refresh of its iPad Air tablet, sporting an A12 Bionic processor and a 10.5" screen.

Can someone identify this cable inside ipad air 3?

I am trying to do a screen/lcd replacement on my ipad air 3. I though I did it all correctly and it powers up with perfect screen, but won't respond to touch. I noticed I am missing a cable right next to the battery which is highlighted in green in the attached photo. Can anyone identify what that is?

thanks so much! So that cable shouldn't affect touch screen? I have no use for sim, so I should be able to use without it?

hello Jared,

It is a sim reader flex tape with connector.

The lack of touch functionality is usually related to screen damage during lifting / detaching from housing. Sometimes it's just a badly inserted connector into the port (check it necessarily and don't forget about the battery: the old principle of electronics - start with the battery when disconnecting and ending with connecting). Sometimes, unfortunately, damage is caused by unreflective disconnection of connectors from the motherboard and damage to them area.

Is there not a short flex at the bottom with about 4 solder points that needs transferring? Can cause issues if it's not soldered onto the new screen.

what you write about is a magnetic sensor for smart cover / keyboard. Causes the screen to turn off when the flap falls on the screen. The tablet will work without it, but yes, it is good practice to move it to a new screen.
