Problem with battery charging

Good evening,

I've been changing the battery on my iPhone XS and unfortunately I've had an error. It's not my first iPhone I've repaired and I was stopped by this problem.

The thing is that when I want to charge the phone, I have to first turn it off, put it in the charger and turn it on, otherwise the phone won't start charging.

Do you know where the fault could be?

Thank you very much for your advice.

What did you repair on the phone or you just mean you need to repair the phone ?

What happens when you plug in the charger doing this without turning it off first?

Well, I bought the phone from a friend of mine with the fact that he can't turn it on. I replaced the battery and it went on.

Only problem I found was that when I plugged the charger into the phone it wouldn't do anything. It's like it's not there. I have to turn it off, plug in the charger and turn it on. Then it works.

If you're still getting issues with it not charging, I'd say you may have an issue with TriStar/charging IC. Need someone who can do this type of microsoldering work.

Cant see why, but you've tried another plug/lead. I'd imagine if it was that, it wouldn't charge at all, but I've seen some bizzare things happen before.

Hi Simon it sounds like a charging port fault so recommend changing it and see if that is any better if not replace battery

Hey Simon!

This could be a charging port problem, or an issue with a lot of these XS iPhones

So, First try to charge it with a different charger and cable.

if the problem remains, Try out wireless charging…

So if Wireless charging works without you turning your iPhone on, its probably your chaging port…

Agree to this. Definitely could be a charge port issue. Giving wireless charging a try is a solid troubleshooting step. If wireless charging still doesn't work then this is more likely an issue with the logic board. Could be an issue with Yangtze, which is the charging chip on the XS.

I tried wireless charging and it works! So next step - I will try change charging port and give response.
