8 Plus restarting if LCD is fully closed, otherwise works great

Hey guys,

been in phone repair business for 3 years now, but have never had this problem. I replaced a broken LCD on a 8 plus phone, had no issues. When I tested it without fully assembling the phone, it worked with no problem at all. So I fit the screen to the phone and screw the bottom 2 screws in place. The final test did not go well, as the phone was in a loop, restarting the Apple logo screen continuously.

So I unscrewed the bottom screws, lift up the LCD, leaving the cables plugged in and both shields screwed to the MB. Tested it again, and again it works with no problem. So I leave the phone turned on, close the LCD again, lock and unlock the screen and the problem with the Apple logo reappeared. While the loop was going on, I lifted the bottom part of the screen, and the phone turned on, again working great. Even made an update with half screen fitted, and made some calls, no problem. I tried isolating all the metal parts on the side of the LCD and the home button shield and it did not help. What is strange to me is, that the phone works fine fitted only on left, right, upper or bottom side. As soon as I close the whole LCD, the problem reappears. I’ve run out of ideas, so I turn to You with this problem, as I see many experts come to this great site.

Sorry for my bad English and I would appreciate any advice you would think of for resolving this issue.

Thank You, Jure

That’s a very bizarre issue. are you having the same problem with other screens on this device?

Try another display if you have one. If not, take a really close look at all the flex cables. See if anything metal is exposed, creasing, getting pinched etc. Or if there is anything which could potential touch something it shouldn’t.
