Camera Shows "Lens Error"

The camera powers on, and briefly shows an image on the LCD display. Then eventually it gives a "Lens Error" message.

Has anybody gotten this error before? Know how to fix it, I'm thinking that since the camera shows an image on the LCD, it may be a software rather than hardware problem.

pollytintop, I think it's one of those cameras that just says "Lens Error". Usual cause is sand grid and grime in the rings, a dislodged lens, or faulty lens motor. :-)

If the lens does not extend/retract properly, then you most likely have something stuck in the zoom gears. If the lens extends but you hear a high pitched buzzing noise, it is the focus motor that is the gears are out or your have debris it it. I would start by reading these tips and see what you get. Also take a quick look at this video to see what you might be up against :-) hope this helps, good luck
