How to reduce the fan noise

The fan seems to have got very loud and annoying. Do I need to switch it out? It was fine for a year.

First thing is to clean fan and surrounding area. Canned air is good to do this so you don’t actually touch anything inside. A dirty fan could limit its cooling ability and result in it working hard to cool things down. Make sure any air vents , also, are free of dust. Here’s the service manual:

Dell XPS 15 7590

You may also have corrupted system files.

Run the System File Checker (SFC) in Windows 11/10/8/7.

Type cmd in the Start search box. In the result, which appears, right-click on cmd and select Run As Administrator.

In the command prompt window which opens, type the following

sfc /scannow

and hit the Enter key. Let it run and do its job.

Thanks. I don't think this is to do with heat. It started when it went from Windows 10 to 11. The fan is running even when the unit isn't particularly hot.
