My fans make noise when they spin up.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 720-13ikb, I’ve been using it for 3-4 years now. My laptop fans have started to make some noise when they spin up, it is a continuous noise. What will I have to do to manage this issue, do I replace the fans(I’m not sure if they are a part of the heat sink assembly or a separate module) or would cleaning them out solve the issue(if so how do I clean the fans).

Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop.

Go to p.44 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the “thermal unit”. The fans and heat sink are one complete module.

If they’re dusty, gently brush the fan blades with a soft brush and then vacuum them.

If the fans are faulty and need replacing, the part number is 5H40N67860 (supplier example only). Search online using the part number only to find suppliers that suit you.
