Replaced logic board and now mac boots to black screen

I replaced my late 2013 macbook pro’s logic board with an used one with higher specs. After replacement, I get the boot sound and keyboard and screen backlights turn on but I only get a black screen, no apple logo nothing. I plugged in an external, monitor through hdmi but the monitor got no signal. I changed back to my old logic board and everything went fine.

I swapped my ssd from my old logic board onto the new one. Is there anything I have to do to the SSD or something that I am missing? The logic board was taken from a working computer but could there be something wrong with it?

Locate the board number on the logic board which do you have in your system and what is the replacement?

  • 820-3462 - 13” MacBook Pro Retina - Early 2013
  • 820-3476 - 13” MacBook Pro Retina - Late 2013

If they are the same then you got a bad logic board. If they are different numbers the boards are not within the same series and are not interchangeable as the interconnecting parts are wired differently!
