Broke a ribbon connector.

I disassembled my laptop in order to replace the thermal paste, and ended up breaking a ribbon. The purpose of it is still not clear to me. I am yet to face any issues in my normal use of the laptop, and everything seems to be working fine. I even ran the hardware diagnostics within the Mac, and even it did not fetch any error codes, and said everything is fine hardware wise. I just want to know, what purpose/function that ribbon solves, and whether it's absence is likely to cause me any trouble/inconvenience in the future. Please help me out.

I guess you end up having no working microphones now, the connector leads to the microphone array.

Thanks for the answer. You are right, the internal microphones does not seem to be working anymore.

utkarsh bansal  its a bit hard to see and it might help if you can zoom a bit closer into that area. From what I can make out this looks like connector J6200 which is part of HDA Bridge circuit (nobody knows what that even is). Anyhow, I attached the schematic for that. It looks like some kind of Audio circuit. If everything else is currently working properly then I would not worry to much about it. If you are really concerned about it you can always try and source the connector and have somebody trained in microsoldering replace that connector for you.
