So I upgraded my RAM to 16GB 2x8GB 2666Mhz CL19 and the laptop turns on but the screen is blank

First re-install old RAM and

  1. Check that your BIOS is version F.29 Rev.A . If not upgrade from HP site.
  2. Check that the RAM make, model, etc. is compatible with your laptop such as:

etc.
