What causes the F keys to be stuck?

My 2 year old Acer Swift 3 SF315-52 still looks like new but has an annoying fault - some of the F keys on the keyboard sometimes get stuck - not physically but the computer thinks they are continously being pressed. It also happens in Linux and in the BIOS so it’s not a Windows bug. Acer says the keyboard has to be replaced - at a cost of course. Do you think this is the only solution?

The device manufacturer tends to be the authority on the repair of their products. If Acer is saying that the keyboard needs to be replaced, there's a good chance that there is no other option.

If both Linux and Windows show that the F keys are malfunctioning, then I also believe that the problem is hardware-related and the keyboard needs replacement.

Please keep in mind, however, that laptop repairs can get steep in price, and the cost of the repairs may end up being more than the laptop itself worth.
