Why is my ifixit replacement battery not holding a charge?

I have a Dell XPS 15 and I purchased a replacement battery in Oct of 2020 (just 6 mo’s ago) and whenever I unplug my laptop it automatically dies. The laptop will not turn on or function without being physically plugged in. What is the problem? Everything i’m reading online says it’s a battery problem.

you need to check the battery health and condition first.

Type or paste powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery-report.html" into the window and press Enter to run the command. Open Windows File Explorer and access the C drive. There you should find the battery life report saved as an HTML file. Double-click the file to open it in your preferred web browser.

If battery health is good then you need to go to repair shop.
