Worth upgrading early 2011 mbp with failed gpu

Hi everyone,

I have found a few posts that have said the early 2011 mbp is worth upgrading and I've found a lot of people have said absolutely.

However, none of specifically said it's worth upgrading one with a failed graphics card that's only running IG.

I have a DG model and as we all know, they are known for failure. I am running on the IG and it's pretty slow. It's a 500gb hdd, 4gb ram quad core i7.

I'm wondering if even with the failed gpu, if I upgrade it to a 16gb ram and 500gb ssd if it would still be able to handle photo editing or if it's a lost cause and will just be a basic browsing machine running on the IG?
