Are keyboard and fans in any way related to eachother?

I recently changed thermal paste for my mac, tearing apart the keyboard ribbon and leaving me keyboardless. I managed to turn on my mac but for some reason the fans are not spinning even if it heats like crazy! For the reccord, the only thing I destroyed was the keyboard ribbon, i will attach a picture. Any idea why the fans may not be spinning? Thank you!
