MacBook Pro Late 2013 Suddenly Dead No magsafe LED no Power

I have a Macbook Pro Late 2013 Model A1502 (EMC 2678) that a friend was keeping in their basement for 2 years. When they turned it on the the screen, a picture of it is below but if you plugged an external display in, the external display worked and it was working with the power supply.

When I asked him to check the battery cycles on it, it was suddenly dead. I got a hold of the laptop and it’s completely dead. No magsafe charger LED indicator, no Amber or Green. No fan spin when you press the power button either. I tried SMC reset. Then I opened the laptop, disconnected the battery. Then I saw some corrosion or sticky drink maybe on the heatsink and over the traces where the ram ICs are and cleaned it with distilled water and isopropyl alcohol. I tried holding down the power button with the battery disconnected, reset SMC, plugged in the power supply with the battery disconnected; couldn’t get it to do anything. I also cleaned the Magsafe port with isopropyl alcohol, my Magsafe 2 charger worked with another Early 2015 13 Macbook Pro so I know it's good. Is there any hope in getting it to work? Thanks

Edit: Here are some pics of the board.

Hi @thinkduh

It can be a number of issues. What is the motherboard number (820-XXXX)?

In order to get a light on the charger you need a power line PP3v42_G3H to be present. Normally if that is missing your charger is not recognised and it won't give you an illuminated charger.

There can be corroded components on the line, could be a chip failure. It is difficult to tell.

Could you post pictures of the motherboard? Adding images to an existing question

@honakrisi I posted some pictures of the motherboard, added them to the original question. Would the numbers be on the opposite side of the motheroard?

Hi @thinkduh ,

The model number is usually near the RAM slots on the motherboard. Let me know if you found it.

Adding @danj as well for additional insight.

@honakrisi have you removed the board to insure there isn't any other corrosion on the other side? Also the I/O board (which is where the magsafe connects) can be seperated from the mobo (check the teardown guide).

@dunc - This is a second attempt to find a better answer than the one I had given MacBook Pro Late 2013 Is My Screen Bad? It does look like the system needs a lot more than a display now. Sadly, I can't offer anything better!
