Battery drain, TouchID dead, warm display/LCD in locked mode
Hi all,
I have an issue with my iPad Air 2:
A few weeks ago, I did drop it. But as I remember it did still work fine for a few days.
But then, from one day to the next, it started to drain battery very quickly (in locked mode, screen off, it goes from a full charge to 0% in about 3-4 hours).
I then realized that TouchID didn't work anymore, but the home-button is functional.
The LCD display gets warm to the touch (even if locked for 1-2 hours) in the lower right corner (not directly above the home button).
I opened it up and disconnected the home-button as well as the digitizer/touch-glass. I only left the LCD connected. In that configuration the battery drain still happens and again the LCD gets warm in the lower right corner, while the battery/logic board area stays cool (I left it open with LCD flipped to the other side, so I am sure the display gets warm, not the logic board).
I guess I would have to buy a new LCD, but that is quite expensive.
Does anyone have an idea how I can further narrow down the root cause before ordering a display?
Thanks

Perhaps the drop loosened a component inside the display, but it had no adverse effects for a brief period?
