Wire Shielding is Pulled out of controller housing

I have a well loved SNES and two original controllers with it, both of which have the shielding of the wires pulled out of the controller shell which I assume just pulled out over time and use. My question is, how is the best way to go about covering the wires again? the best solution I could think of is to buy heat shrink tubing and just ad length to the shielding. But that there also leads to a problem because of the pin connector to the pcb being to large. any ideas or am I over thinking this?

Hello, perhaps you can cut two shrink tubes and hold them with zip ties without heating them.
