Motherboard change from 2017 to 2015 Model?

Is it possible, with all the connectors, to change a 2017 board in a 2015 housing of 12” MacBook?

Or are there differences?

@frischeis - To clarify: You want to upgrade your 2015 system to the 2017 board or downgrade from your 2017 system to a 2015 logic board?

Sadly, the display is not compatible between your 2015 system and the 2017 logic board. Apple introduced TrueTone in the 2016 model year.

In addition to cost of a new logic board is around $600 USD, it would be cheaper to locate a used 2017 system. I’ve seen them go as low as $400 USD.

Thank you for the info! I have a macbook from 2015 with a defective motherboard. I would have the defective board against a 2016 or 2017 motherboard exchanged. Now I have no choice but to buy a board from 2015 because of the truetone problem.

And yes, I'll buy a used board - new is out of the question because it's too expensive.

@frischeis - Here's a used 2017 that's for sale for $320 USD !! Apple MacBook 12" Core m3 1.2GHz 8GB 256GB 2017 Rose Gold SCREEN BROKE (Parts) with a new screen Complete 12″ Display Assembly for a grade B or C you end up getting away with $200 ~250 plus your time you will only cost you $530-560

Thank you for the links. But I live in Germany. I already bought the defective macbook from 2015 for about $240. Everything works (including the screen). So I only need a new motherboard. Hence the question of a board from 2017.

What is different between the display from 2015 and the 2017? The connector?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@frischeis - The signal assignments
