The Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 is a tablet released in 2016 by Samsung. This device comes in both 32GB and 64 GB variants. The Wi-Fi only model number is SM-T813. The factory unlocked 4G model number is SM-T819.

Internal Memory Location Galaxy Tab S2

Quick question. Is the internal memory on the logic board? I think I overheated my battery, and before I could back up my data, the tablet fell off the counter and the screen was broken. I was getting a message saying the temperature was to low (below -20 C) when I tried charging, but if I warmed up the tablet on a heating pad, low setting, it would charge. Now I have no screen, am using a USB multimeter and it says it's taking a charge. 5. 08v, 1.4-1.5 A but when I plug in to PC, the USB connection just cycles on and off. I just want to get the data back. Kinda stuck on where to go next. Thanks in advance.

Hi @nixxon ,

The storage memory is hard mounted onto the systemboard, so to retrieve any data you would either need to get the tablet working again or have the equipment that can hopefully read the data directly off the nand flash memory chips themselves as long as they’re still OK as well.

If the data is really that important to you and you can’t get it working without losing any data e.g. a factory reset or firmware reload, you may have to contact specialist data retrieval companies and hope that they can do this. They’re not cheap.

@jayeff Thank you for the reply. I was able to successfully charge the battery and get my PC to recognize the tablet, but alas, I have a pass code on the device and as the screen is not functioning, I cannot access any files without unlocking it first. This time, the device stayed connected instead of looping. All recovery software that I have tried requires me to enable USB debugging, so again, without a functional screen I'm at another speed bump.

I'm thinking of purchasing a used device and swapping the system board over. Seems as it might be less costly than having a company retrieve the data. As my screen is already cracked, it seems like the perfect opportunity to learn to pull the screen using the broken device. If successful, I'll attempt it on the newer one. I'll hopefully then have the same style device with my data and a parts device, I guess.

If you know of any reason this may not work, please, let me know.

Thanks again for your time!
