it is not heating to allow the ice to loosen

I was having the same problems as many people here so did a strip down of the module. Firstly I thought it was the water line being frozen, checked that after a defrost and it wasn't that as the ice tray filled, froze the water but didn't eject the ice cubes. That lead me to the auger motor, so stripped it back and the motor worked as the auger resets to a starting position once you press the blue button on the module. Final thing I have come to the conclusion on is, there are two coils, one for freezing and one that seems to heat the tray to loosen the ice for ejecting. It appears that it is not heating to allow the ice to loosen. Does anyone (looking @LadyTech) have any idea on if this could be the problem and how to fix it/test it. fridge is at 5°c freezer @ -15°c...I/M top left of the fridge unit not in the freezer compartment

@Paul Sumner -if your I/M is secured to the left wall with two screws, heater could be”open”. Youteat with a multimeter set for ohms. That symbol looks like an upside down U. Remove the i/m, remove the i/m head and you’ll see the heater terminals. You checking for continuity to determine if the element is open or close. It should be closed and your meter should show show a change. If it’s open the meter would show a change. There is also a thermostat, round disk type, that opens and closes with temperature.

Update (01/05/2020)

Paul Sumner - if your I/M is attached to the ceiling and you have a tab to pushto reassert to remove it, you must be very careful of the refrigerant line that loops inside the I/m. Don’t force the i/m. This style I/Mis a problem. Samsung is in trouble for this. The best way to test this is to press the reset button on the right side of I/m head for about 10 seconds. It should advance. If nothing happens push reset again. If atilll nothing replace the ice maker. I don recommend repairing. In fact, I don’t think you can get parts for this one. Be sure to register your refrigerator through Samsung and save receipts. I hope this helps you.

But, what about the heater coil that is not part of the ice maker. You have to slide the icemaker over and off of the heater coil for the kind mounted to the ceiling with the blue test buttons (samsungs) then the heater coil is just sticking out there in the ice cubby. How do we replace that kind or test that kind?

@effectingcause I believe you’re referring to the I/m that opens up and slides onto a u shaped copper line. That is a refrigerator line and is not repairable. It is a refrigerant line. If it breaks, refrigerant leaks out and the refrigerator won’t work. There is no professional repair for it.
