My tv was working totally fine this morning and then it suddenly kept turning it’s self on and off. I unplugged it and cleaned out any dust etc, changed the controller batteries too. I have left it unplugged for a few hours and now when it turns on and I try to use the controller it will turn off as soon as any button is pressed.

Can anyone shed some light? This is the exact model I have: Panasonic TX-L42ET60B 42" Smart VIERA LED TV

@ayshapoppy so the power turns on until "I try to use the controller it will turn off as soon as any button is pressed" it turns off? Your TV is a TX-L42ET60B?

@ayshapoppy let’s start off with trying to do a reset. Unplug everything from the back of your TV. Unplug the TV. Press and hold in the on/off switch. Press and hold the red button on the handset for 30 seconds. This will reset the PANASONIC TV. ... Keep pressing the power button for another 60 seconds. After that connect only one input device. Something like a DVD player, BR player or even a game console. Then plug your TV in and try to start see if that changed anything.

I have already tried this! If i don't press any buttons on the controller it will also turn off within 30seconds-1min

Okay that sounds like either the power board or your TV turns itself off in protect mode. Do you get any blink code pattern from the power LED? Are you up for taking the back cover off and taking a look at the boards etc.?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@oldturkey03 I'm pretty sure theres a blink code, it goes very quick haha. I could get someone to help me take the back off, I'm not very good with in depth tech stuff. The blink code is red and then green and they seem to go for the same amount of time. Would i need to count the blinks?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@ayshapoppy if you can count them that would be good. Panasonic uses blink codes to point out if there are any errors with the self check. You would also need a multimeter to do some testing. Once you got the back cover off post some good pictures of your boards with your QUESTION. That way we can see what you see. Adding images to an existing question

@oldturkey03 Just plugged it back in and only got green flashes, tried to count as best as i could and i think it's about 21. Very quick for about 17 and then slightly slower for the remaining 4.
