Apple watch screen finicky after screen replacement

I just recently replaced my apple watch series 3 screen. The gasket is in place with the adhesive but I have not yet put the screen in place w/ adhesive as it has been finicky in different positions. Prior to replacement there was no cable damage, however, the cables have to be held in a certain position in order for the screen to become fully functional. Has anyone experienced this during an apple watch screen replacement or have any suggestions on how I can keep the screen fully functional before adhering it to the rest of the watch?
