How do I fix stick drift due to water damage?

I dropped my ps4 controller into a decent amount of water, nothing happened to it and it kept on working. So it dried it out as best I could without taking it apart and it worked fine. About an hour later I noticed that I have stick drift on my r3 joystick. It was not a small drift but rather a quite substantial drift. I was wondering if this was due to the water or could it be something else.

Anthony Arce for now you really do not want to use it. You stand a pretty big chance in shortening it out further. You will have to go ahead and disassemble it using these guides DualShock 4 CUH-ZCT1 Once disassembled clean all the part with high grade Isopropyl Alcohol (+90%) and a soft brush. Once you got it all cleaned check for obviously damaged components around the stick etc. At this point I would even go ahead and suggest you replace the analog stick. After all that test your controller and see if it operates as should.
