Hi,
Did you make the USB "bootable" when you created the installer USB?
Did you press Esc quickly followed by F9 when starting the laptop to select the USB as the first boot option, not quite sure if this is what you meant when you said that you changed the BIOS setting presumably the boot order?

I'm running into the same situation, but my model is 11-r015wm. I used Rufus to flash a Windows 10 iso to a flash drive. I changed the bios settings to allow for legacy booting, and tried booting to the flash drive both with this turned on and off, and specifically using the bios boot menu to select a device to boot from. The bios doesn't see any flash drive I use. Idk if the issue is my flash drives are usb 3.0 and the only usb 2.0 I have is too small for a Windows 10 iso. I tried using a micro sd card but the laptop didn't recognize it either.
